Sometimes I use our home computer to send email to my work from my personal account. Is this a bad idea?

It can be. Many companies have policies regarding email that detail who can send email and whether emailing from personal accounts is allowed. Be careful because you might accidentally send a co-worker or client a virus or worm that infiltrated your home computer. Corporate networks tend to have stronger security. Some companies also fall under regulations to track and archive email and might not want you to send work emails from your personal account.

If you really need to send the occasional work email from home, talk to someone in your IT department about getting secure access to your work email account from your home computer, or get permission from your supervisor to send email from home.
